  To me, however, the most fascinating part is the inclusion of: ‘Why am I convinced that these are "the last days"? between the ‘What convinces me that God exists?' and ‘What makes me believe that Jehovah's standards are for my good?'

  The slipping of the "last days" garbage between two commonly accepted Christian beliefs is not only sneaky, it is outright deceitful. In a similar manner they lumped together Higher Education with drugs, alcohol, teenage pregnancy, etc, in a recent publication.

  Unfortunately, most JWs wouldn't even think about it

  It makes no sense whatsoever that a" CREATOR" would only communicate with a minority of the population then put the onus on them to convey this life saving message to the WHOLE wide world

  i now find it idiotic that i could ever beleive the bible to be the inspired word of god.....,throughout the bible "god"has only dealt with a few of his favoured spokespersons to deliver his messages to a minority populace.individuals at first,..... then, patriarchs,nomads,a small nation,ignoring all other nations that had sprung up.......,abandoning his chosen nation,sending his "son"to a small nation, only giving them his pearls of wisdom,much of what was not even recorded for prosperity and remember he never wrote a word,it was left up to other imperfect humans to record what he was supposed to have said,just a smidgen......,again ignoring the bulk of humankind keeping them in ignorance of his plan for universal salvation,leaving it all up to imperfect humans to spread this message of salvation, whom he has already condemned for their sinfullness and disobedience.i just find it so unbeleivable.

  in the 6000 years of recorded history only a fraction of the earths population,maybe less than a third have ever heard of the god of the bible, or his so called plan to redeem humankind ,thats millions and millions of people.

  Tammy, you are sidestepping the question. Bear in mind the topic of the thread.

  Let me spell it then: You MAKE SURE your kids hear what you have to say if it pertains to their safety or their life. You don't whisper, you don't hope they hear, you don't communicate it to SOME OF THEM by telling them in person in your very strict parenal voice, and to MOST OF THE OTHERS by leaving conflicting clues here and there in the words of many 3rd parties over centuries.

  By saying you, I am actually asking what a responsible sensible parent would do (because I have no doubt you are such )

  Yes, the message must be clear. For me the message is very clear.

  Hold on. Not so fast.

  It is clear for you, and it is not even heard by 5 people for each one who heard it.

  If some of your children are in front of you when you whisper the directions and hear you loud and clear, but MOST of your children are in the other room, listening to the loud radio, unaware that you were giving life-saving directions, is what you have done responsible parenting?

  Is it the kids in the loud room fault that they didn't hear and you didn't make sure they heard?

  Actually, you knew very well they didn't hear, yet you did nothing to make sure they did.

  We are talking life and death here, not a call for dinner...

  If they won't listen to me and my voice, then I hope that I would continue to try through third party messengers. They might not listen to those either. In which case, what can I do?

  So, you would try EVERYTHING in your power to reach them, including (or should we say, starting with) talking to them directly?

  They are not physically limited to not hearing your voice or seeing you. Would you try to tell them directly, or would you hope they check under the doormat for that note that you told their greatuncle to leave there some 2000 years ago and maybe he did, ah who knows, let's all believe he did....

  If they were in real danger, what do you do?

  "...some say it's a simple translation problem..."

  Funny thing, God first scrambles the language and creates all kinds of unrelated languages, then provides his inspired word in a two, max three languages (and not all of it in all) and then fusses over the majority of us (not native speakers of said languages, btw) not understanding exactly what the message is.

  In the everyday parlance, I'd call this WTF.
